RAY DAVIES Flyer

On Monday 5th March 2001, Dave Seal and myself were once again at Cheltenham Town Hall, this time to see former Kinks frontman RAY DAVIES.

For this concert Ray would intersperse the songs with stories of how the songs came about and what was happenning at the time, like the fact that the Kinks were banned in America for quite some time because they would not sign a piece of paper. He also told us of how the Americans thought they were gay because they had long hair.

Among the songs performed were "Victoria", "X-Ray" (for which I agreed with the sentiments entirely), "Set Me Free", "The Ballad of Julie Finkle", "Days" (which made me sad because I thought of KIRSTY MacCOLL), "Stop Your Sobbing", "See My Friend", "Sunny Afternoon", "Waterloo Sunset", and my favourite on the night "LOLA" for which he tried to get the audience to join in, unfortunately apart from a few people, which included Dave and Myself, the rest of the crowd did not participate at all.
